General digestive surgery
General digestive surgery involves both the abdominal wall and the organs of the gastrointestinal tract within the abdominal cavity.
Specific surgical conditions of the skin and subcutaneous tissue are also treated.
Disorders of the stomach and small intestine.
Disorders of the gallbladder and bile ducts.
Disorders of the colon and rectum.
Disorders of the anus (proctology) and the pelvic floor.
Abdominal wall disorders such as hernias.
Skin and soft tissue conditions such as growths and abscesses.
Oncological digestive surgery
Abdominal cancer affects the abdominal cavity. This includes the area of the abdomen which contains the stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, small and large intestine, and the abdominal cavity.

What is obesity?
Obesity is a chronic form of overweight, characterized by an excessive accumulation of fat in the body. It is a disease for which surgery is useful and/or necessary in certain situations, accompanied by a change in lifestyle and diet.
What is obesity surgery?
By obesity surgery or bariatric surgery (from the Greek “baros”, weight), we mean all gastrointestinal tract surgeries that aim to reduce food intake and thus lose weight and support lifestyle changes.
There are three types of procedures:
– Restrictive procedure aimed at reducing stomach volume.
– Malabsorptive procedure, where nutrient absorption is reduced.
– Combined restrictive and malabsorptive procedure: stomach reduction + decreased absorption of fats and sugars.
These procedures can be performed by micro-invasive surgery (laparoscopy). They allow for better recovery, healing, and aesthetics.
SoulSurgeon is specifically dedicated to patients with obesity, cancer, and healthcare professionals. Based on my medical expertise and coaching training, my wife Inge and I treat patients holistically. Unfortunately, an illness is not limited to the affected organ. It is also important to identify the root cause of obesity (for example) and address it. A cancer patient wants to fight the disease as calmly and comfortably as possible. Reducing stress and anxiety is essential to increase the chances of recovery. SoulSurgeon focuses on patients’ psychological balance and support.

In digestive surgery, I was mainly interested in gastrointestinal oncology (oncology of the pancreas, liver, esophagus, and colorectal cancer, and debulking +/- CHIP), always in close collaboration with the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris.
In 2009, I successfully developed a full-fledged digestive surgery department within the Namur Regional Hospital Center, as well as a high-performing bariatric center.
